It’s only fitting that World Patient Safety Day falls on my birthday, as a surgical accident during my colon cancer resection tried its best to end my life. I went into cardiac arrest, then emergency surgery, and then received 2 blood transfusions to a central line in my neck to restore the 50% of my body’s total blood volume that I lost. 🩸Pretty darn badass, right?! 💪Now you understand why I’m so passionate about protecting patients’ physical and mental health. It’s personal. 🙏This survivor/thriver is just getting started. Immensely grateful and excited to embrace another year. Cheers! 🎂🎉
